Stock powerstroke exhaust
I put this together for a customer, for the millionth time, on which exhaust system is right for a 6.7 Powerstroke.I realized; why don’t I make a blog post that explains which is the best exhaust for a 6.7 Powerstroke? While this system is reasonably adequate for stock to mildly powered trucks, a larger diameter system or higher flow system from Diamond Eye, FLO~PRO, Magnaflow, MBRP, or Silverline is mandatory on any Powerstroke equipped with even mild upgrades, or for those towing heavy loads. On a mostly stock truck with a tuner, intake and exhaust the 4” exhaust generally has more bottom end torque. This is because the turbo needs a certain amount of back pressure to spool up efficiently. The 5” exhaust has slightly higher horsepower at the top of the RPM range (5-10 horsepower). Oct 18, 2017 Before you throw an exhaust on your 2011-2016 Powerstroke, at least with deleted emissions actually got worse fuel mileage than stock.

The factory exhaust on the 7.3 Powerstroke was made to be as quiet as possible for the stock configuration but it is also very restrictive when making more power.
